This is Me

The Administration Profession chose me when the doors quietly closed to my first career ambition, Mass Communication, which my mother thought was a good fit. My parents then decided that I would instead pursue a Bachelors of Secretarial Studies on Government Scholarship at Makerere University, a decision that redirected my path to the administrative career. I was encouraged by my Auntie Robina then an Administrator with Ibero Uganda Ltd.

What began as a plan C ended up becoming my calling. A career that has spanned nearly two decades and taken me from the corner offices of Uganda’s Central Bank to global stages in Auckland, Washington, Chicago, Texas, Kentucky, Sandton, London, and Frankfurt to mention but a few.

I hold a Master of Business Administration, Certified Administrative Professional (CAP) and Prince2 Project Management Foundation. Additionally, I have specialized training in leadership, public speaking, creative writing, and events management.

Leadership has always been an integral part of my administrative career. I started out as a Vice Chairperson of the Students’ Association in Makerere University, and I currently serve as a Board Director of the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP), where I continue to advocate for the advancement and recognition of the administrative profession.

From Kampala to Frankfurt, I have represented Uganda and Africa at global forums like the World Administrators Summit, championing causes that merge professionalism with creativity, and leadership with impact. I have also collaborated with Executive Secretary Live.

In 2015, I was honored to be named Pitman P.A, of the Year, a recognition that affirmed what I have always believed: our work matters, and our voices deserve space at tables of leadership, and on platforms of influence.

Beyond the boardroom, I carry another voice, the voice of a storyteller.  Words are the best gift I have given and received. As a young girl, my mother taught me and my siblings how to experience storytelling. Her stories were laced with proverbs, folklore, and innuendos. Through Toastmasters International and Forever Writers Club, I have come to learn that stories when told properly, have the power to ignite transformation, provoke uncomfortable thoughts and carry inspiration that lingers in the mind long after conversations have ended.

Language has been very dear to me since childhood and when my parents were not watching, I would pull from under my mattress a piece of charcoal and scribble on walls. Today, I continue to play with language and the craft of creative writing and in the words of Ms. Kendra Adams “Your storytelling is like a sweet fragrance that captures the soul and lingers in the heart of every reader.

I love journaling, writing travel stories, memoirs, and poetry. My poem, I am Intentional, I am Professional, recited on global stages is a call to action: to see administrative professionals as strategic partners, and not an extension of office furniture.

When I am not working, you can be sure to find me in my two favourite places: in my creative studio breathing the pages, or in my garden tending to plants.

Plants remind me that growth takes time, patience, and that beautiful journeys require intentionality.

Words are my precious gift to you.

Thank you for being part of my story.
